Macros Taken with 105mm Micro Nikkor

Was testing this borrowed lens from a friend of mine. It is amazingly sharp at the point of focus! However, the challenge lies in controlling the Depth of Focus (DOF). I have an effective DOF of just 1 or 2 mm. Makes me appreciate macro photography even more. Oh yes, not to mention testing my patience in the process too :P.

Sydney Panaromas in October 2006

First time trying panaromic shots. And the bridge, opera house, city skyline made great subjects :). All taken with the Nikon 18-200mm VR lens. #1 was taken handheld, whereas the rest of the night shots were taken with the help of a tripod.

Western Australia in September 2006

Some shots I took when I went on a trip Down Under :). All of them were taken using a Nikon D70, along with the Nikon 18-200mm VR lens. I am really growing to like this lens for its wonderful convenience. Some of the shots were taken with a Nikon circular polarizer mounted on the lens.

Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18 - 200 mm f/3.5-5.6 ED VR

Just got myself this new toy about a week back :). The VR feature is amazing! Really can see its impact on reducing camera shake.

Took some shots with VR off & compared it with those taken with VR on. Must better shots. It greatly increases the percentage of good shots as compared to my Tamron 18-200mm lens.

However, my current gripe is that the focusing seems to be a bit soft at the 200mm end :(. Or maybe it's me? Hope to play around with it more to get to know it better.

New Nikon EN-EL3e Batteries

For those of you who are not aware, Nikon is recalling their EN-EL3 batteries with specific batch numbers (see link for more details http://nikon.com.sg/pagearticle.php?pageid=49), and replacing them with the newer, improved EN-EL3e that comes with the D70s.

Initially when the news broke, the feeling was one of dread -- thinking of the hassle to make an effort to find go down to the Nikon Service Center just to get your batteries changed :(. However, all that started to change when I found out that they are replacing them with the improved batteries :). Suddenly, felt like it was good to be one of those affected!!

In the end, I changed 2 old EN-EL3 for 2 new EN-EL3e batteries!! :)

Tamron AF18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di-II LD

Bought a 2nd hand Tamron lens the other day. The range should come in handy for travel or a walk-about lens. Hope to find time to post some pictures :(.
